Having difficulty with Share Previews not loading correctly on Facebook and other social media platforms? Don't worry, this guide will walk you through troubleshooting it.
Troubleshooting Sharing to Social Media
Start by pulling up the public page that you want to share on social media.
Click the share button and navigate to the share tab.
Click on the social media platform that you want to share the page on, in this case, Facebook.
Check if the preview of the page displays correctly with a thumbnail, headline, and description. Sometimes, the preview may not display because Facebook has not indexed the page or generated a preview.
If the preview is not displaying correctly, edit the test card to update the headline and add a description.
Go back to the page and click share again. If the changes are not reflected, Facebook offers a tool that can be used to troubleshoot.
Go to the social sharing section and click on the “Facebook cache text” button to open the debug tool.
Click on the “Scrape Again” button to update the preview to the latest changes.
Go back to the widget and click on the share button again on Facebook. The updated preview should now be displayed.
