eCardWidget offers two distinct modes, Animated and Simple, for incorporating video and audio into eCards. Each mode caters to different delivery methods and user experiences. Understanding why certain media integrations are feasible in one mode and not the other is key to maximizing the impact of your eCards.

Understanding the Modes:

1. Animated eCard Mode: This mode supports direct embedding of video and audio, ideal for creating a rich, multimedia experience.

2. Simple eCard Mode: Designed for delivery and viewing primarily in email inboxes, this mode does not support direct embedding of rich media. This limitation is due to the inherent constraints of most email clients, which are the lowest common denominator in eCard delivery. They typically do not support the playback of embedded videos or audio, making it impractical to include these elements directly in eCards sent via email.

Option 1: Animated eCard Mode (Video and Audio)

This mode allows embedding of both video and audio directly into the eCard for an immersive experience.

Embedding Audio and Video:

  • Simply Edit your eCard, click "More Customizations", then set your audio or video and you're done!

Option 2: Simple eCard Mode (Video and Audio Links)

Simple eCard Mode allows linking to external multimedia content, suitable for straightforward designs.

Linking to Videos

  1. Design eCard Cover Image: Create a cover image with a play icon overlay.

  2. Upload to eCard Editor: Upload this image in the eCard Widget's editor.

  3. Set Up Clickable Cover Image Link: In the 'Cover Image Link' tab, enter the URL of the video page in the "Clickable Cover Image Video Link" section.

  4. Include Video Link in Email Body: Add the video URL in the eCard's email text for direct access.

Linking to Audio

  1. Create an Audio-Themed Cover Image: Design a cover image that suggests audio content (e.g., an audio icon).

  2. Upload and Link to Audio Page: Follow the same steps as for video, but link the cover image to a webpage where the audio is hosted.

Best Practices

  • Test Thoroughly: Always test eCards to ensure all multimedia elements function correctly.

  • Clear Instructions: Provide clear cues on eCards indicating that they contain video or audio.

  • Optimize for All Devices: Ensure that your eCards with embedded multimedia are responsive and accessible across different devices.

Conclusion

By utilizing eCardWidget's Animated and Simple eCard Modes, you can effectively integrate both video and audio into your eCards. Whether it's embedding media directly into an Animated eCard or linking to multimedia content in a Simple eCard, these methods significantly enhance the interactivity and appeal of your eCards, making them more engaging for your recipients.
